RH Dana Charity Regatta to
Benefit Ocean Institute
DANA POINT, CA, August 2, 2007 - The Ocean Institute will be the beneficiary of
Dana Point Yacht Club's Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta, the weekend the Institute holds
its Toshiba Tall Ships Festival, September 6-9. The regatta features three days of competitive
sailing and a two-day fishing tournament. Proceeds benefit the Ocean Institute.
Among the events is a Race of Champions on Friday, September 7. Five top-rated
vessels will race; members of the public, with or without sailing experience, can bid on 40 crew
spots (five per vessel). Minimum bid is $100; $500 automatically secures your spot. For

On Saturday, September 8, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., the Spirit of Dana Point, one of the Ocean
Institute's tall ships, will be taking visitors on a sail, offering an ideal location to observe the
Charity Regatta. The Spirit of Dana Point will fire off its cannon to start the day’s race; lunch

Also on Saturday, September 8, 6-10 p.m., the Dana Point Yacht Club will present a
clubhouse Gala Party. The beach-themed event will feature a gourmet buffet dinner, live music
