Ocean Institute Coastal Explorer Camp
Offers Off-Shore Adventure for Ages 10-12
DANA POINT, CA, July 24, 2007 - The Ocean Institute will offer Coastal Explorer
Camp, an exciting, week-long summer camp for children ages 10-12, each week in August. The
five-day, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. camps are scheduled for the weeks of August 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about the science of our coastlines in a way that is
both hands-on and fun. Activities include kayaking, operating remote operated vehicles (ROVs),
crabbing, catch and release fishing, tidepooling, and wildlife cruises. Participants will learn the
science of our coastlines, including a study of waves, sand and the sea creatures who live off our
shores.
The cost for the week is $275, or for members of the Institute, $245. For additional

Open to the Public on Weekends
The Ocean Institute is open to the general public on
Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cost: $6 adults, $4 children ages 4-12. Or, with the
purchase of a membership, a family can enjoy year-round free admission, benefit from member-
only events and receive discounts on all other programs.
Visitors can also board one of the Ocean Institute's sea-going vessels, the state-of-the-art
R/V Sea Explorer or the historic tallship Spirit of Dana Point. Cruises are an additional charge.
