"Last Splash of Summer!" Features
Beach-themed Learning Labs
DANA POINT, CA, June 27, 2007 - The Ocean Institute will present its "Last Splash of
Summer!" the weekend of August 18 & 19, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., which features hands-on learning
laboratories themed to the beach, including labs which offer information on water quality and
beach closures and labs which teach about waves. Scientists from the Scripps Institution of
Oceanography will be on hand to share the findings of their coastal research from noon to 12:30
p.m. each day. Event partners include the Doheny Longboard Surfing Association and the
Surfrider Foundation, South Orange County Chapter.
There will also be activities for children and surf movie screenings. Attendees are
encouraged to wear their favorite surf attire. Cost: $6 adults, $4 children (ages 3-12), Ocean
Institute members free.
