Tim McMahon Named Ocean Institute's New Chairman of the Board of Directors

DANA POINT, CA, February 16, 2008 - Tim McMahon has been named the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Institute, he succeeds Bill Steel, who held the role for two years. The announcement was made by Dan Stetson, President of the Ocean Institute during their January Board meeting. McMahon is Senior Vice President of Brokerage Services Retail Properties for CB Richard Ellis. In this role, he leases and sells commercial properties. He is a long-time Dana Point resident who began volunteering at the Ocean Institute 25 years ago. He joined the Board of Directors a decade ago and has served as Committee Chair for the prestigious "Jazz in January" fundraising event since its inception in 2003.

Tim McMahon has a B.S. degree in Marketing and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Additionally, he serves on the board of directors of South Coast Medical Center. Tim's wife Carol and son Justin join Tim in their support of the Ocean Institute's educational efforts. Carol has her own Interior Design firm in Corona Del Mar and Justin is Tim's partner at CB Richard Ellis.

McMahon is passionate about the Institute's educational mission and the upcoming expansion project of the Seaside Learning Center. He observed, "The Ocean Institute does a terrific job educating our young people about the need to understand and preserve our oceans. I look forward to working with Dan Stetson, the board of directors, and all of the Ocean Institute staff members and volunteers to make the Institute even better."

Stetson commented, "Tim has been a long-time friend to the Institute. He brings a wealth of talent and experience to his new role as Chairman. We're very appreciative of all he has done for the Institute, and look forward to a continued good working relationship with him in the future."
