2002 : Sneek Peak
Wednesday July 10, 2002 - Educators will get a "Sneak Peek" of the new Ocean Education Center this summer
Ocean Institute offers pre-opening tours to teachers to be the first to see the Ocean Institute's new Ocean Education Center this summer. During two years of focus sessions with educators, the Ocean Institute learned that teachers would like to have programs that assist them in meeting California State Science, History, Math and Language Arts Standards, provide more ways of interacting with live animals, and extend more into middle and high school grades. The result is a series of innovative programs unlike any offered before that will take place on a one-of-a-kind campus. The new 33,000 square-foot, $16.5 million Ocean Education Center is designed as a working marine research station that maximizes the role of the student.
