Ocean Institute Partnering with MiOcean to Educate a New Generation of Watershed Stewards
Each year, more than 2,000 Southern California children learn about the challenges of urban runoff pollution by attending the Watershed Education Program, the flagship of the Ocean Institute’s environmental curriculum.
Water quality issues are the focus of a 4-hour field trip to the Ocean Institute, where children participate in an in-depth exploration of watershed science, including informative staff lectures and hands-on exhibits. Teachers who are new to the program also receive a special orientation and training session prior to their field trip.

Charitable Bequests for the Ocean Institute

A bequest can be an excellent way to make a gift to the Ocean Institute. It allows you to specify the portion of your estate you would like the Ocean Institute Endowment Fund to receive, while ensuring that adequate funds are available during your life to cover both expected and unexpected expenses such as taxes and the needs of your family. Bequests are a major source of funds for the Ocean Institute Endowment Fund and are critical to its continuing strength.
There are two principal ways to provide for the OI Endowment Fund in your Will. To make a specific bequest you simply state that the OI Endowment Fund is to receive a designated dollar amount or direct certain property to the OI Endowment Fund. The second option is a residuary bequest. In this gift, the OI Endowment Fund receives a stated percentage of your remaining estate after payment of all specific bequests, debts, and costs of estate administration. Since the amount of your residuary estate varies from time to time, a residuary bequest enables you to incorporate flexibility into your estate plan.
Become a member of our LegaSea Society with a bequest in your will or living trust. If you would like to learn more about making a bequest, please contact Charles Nunn at (949) 278-9593.
