Howard and Michele Hall will discuss their experiences filming marine wildlife during the making of the IMAX 3D feature film UNDER THE SEA 3D. During the last fifteen years, Howard has directed and Michele has produced four IMAX wildlife features including INTO THE DEEP, ISLAND OF THE SHARKS, and DEEP SEA 3D. Their most recent film, UNDER THE SEA 3D, was released in February 2009. Through the use of still photos and behind-the-scenes video clips, their presentation will highlight the challenges, adventure, and misadventure of attempting to capture marine wildlife behavior with an underwater camera system that weighs over 1,200 pounds.
Howard and Michele Hall are natural history film producers specializing in marine wildlife films. Howard has received six cinematography Emmys for films produced for television. Michele has received one Emmy award.
Imagine what a 70 foot moving wall of water would look like with you on the very top of it? A place where mortality is contemplated and survival is necessary. Not a place for most of us. We welcome to the Ocean Institute Mike Parsons, Greg Long, Gary Linden, Sean Collins, Peter Mel and Jason Murray as they share experiences and adventures spanning from the breakers at the Cortes Bank to Mavericks, Waimea Bay, Todos Santos Islands and the Outer Reefs of the North Shore.
