Mother's Day & Father's Day Programs
Mother's Day Brunch Sail
Age: 4 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

Treat your mom to an exciting morning brunch while sailing aboard the traditional wooden schooner Spirit of Dana Point. Join the ship’s crew in raising the sails and steering the vessel as you enjoy the beautiful scenery off the southern California coast. Relax with mom and enjoy the scrumptious meal prepared by Spirit’s cook.
Father's Day Catch-and-Release Fishing trip
Age: 4 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: 8:00am to 1:00pm

Join us for our Father's Day Catch-and-Release Fishing Trip aboard the R/V Sea Explorer. Take your dad on an outdoor adventure he’ll never forget! We’ll supply the fishing gear and bait. You just need to come and have some fun (fishing license is not required; soft drinks and coffee are included)!
Father's Day Treasure Hunt
Age: 4 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)

The hunt is on! In search of pirate loot, you and dad will scour the grounds of the Ocean Institute for clues that will lead to a rich sailing adventure, full of fun and treasure. Sail out on the Pacific Ocean aboard the Spirit of Dana Point, following signs and signals that will lead to both danger and adventure. Cannons will roar as you come upon the unmarked treasures on the high seas and collect your reward (unless you encounter a pirate or two). This exciting treasure hunt will be an experience you’ll never forget!
Single Day Camps
Junior Oceanographer
Age: 9 - 12
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm

What is it like to be a marine scientist? Step into their fascinating world by learning the principles of marine biology and oceanography. Your fun-filled day includes a two-hour Marine Wildlife Cruise on the R/V Sea Explorer, a walk in the Dana Point Marine Life Refuge, and laboratory activities including a fish dissection. This exciting experience will spark your curiosity as you dive into the magical marine world.
Junior Neptunes
Age: 6 - 8
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm

Have you ever held a hermit crab in the palm of your hand? Have you ever stood under a whale skeleton? Join us as we explore marine critters from the smallest crab to the giant whale. A blend of fact and fiction will direct this fun-filled program using the books House for Hermit Crab and The Snail and the Whale. You will discover the hidden world beneath the waves.
Parent-Child Overnight
Santa Barbara to Dana Point Overnight Sail
Age: 14 - adult (children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult)
Time: Depart from Santa Barbara Harbor at 1:30pm on April 26
Arrive at Dana Point Harbor at approximately 10:00am on April 27
Hours: 20 - 24
Dates: April 26 - 27 (Saturday - Sunday)
Price: $125 (Members $110)
During this overnight sail, we are inviting guests to help us sail the Spirit of Dana Point on her overnight transit from beautiful Santa Barbara Harbor to historic Dana Point. In this once-in-a-lifetime voyage, you will lend a hand with the crew at sail handling, standing watch, and taking a "trick at the helm." You will also be invited to take part in some of the more colorful traditions of sailing such as chantey singing! Please note that this is not a simple cruise; you will actually be signing on as crew of the Spirit, but don’t worry, coffee, food, and patient instruction will be provided!
