Panning for GoldPassage to the Mother Lode

Grade 4
In search of riches in California, students offload cargo in "San Francisco," pan for gold in sands from the " Sacramento" delta, and get caught in a Gold Rush debate between the captain and the ship's agent.

Gold Digger's Express Sailing Program

Grade 4
Working their way to California on a sailing packet, students learn the sailor’s art while preparing for the gold fields. Will the Captain convince them to become a sailor, or will they stake claims in Sacramento? Program includes a sail aboard the Spirit of Dana Point.

California Time Capsule Overnight

Grade 4
Experience the thrill of Gold Fever at the Lazy W Ranch and discover how California has changed from the time of the Native Americans to the Gold Rush. Students enjoy negotiating for supplies in Sam Brannan’s store, panning for gold in a mountain stream, and sleeping in rustic "miner's" cabins.
