Field Trips

By the Great Horn SpoonA Day in the Chaparral

Grade 4

Two Days, $164 per student, $80 per adult (includes 2.5 hour sail aboard tallship Spirit of Dana Point); $149 per student, $70 per adult (without sailing component) for 35 - 90 participants

In this exciting new program, students travel from the "Eastern Seaboard" to the "gold fields" of California to seek their fortune. Students must band together to fulfill their dreams as they re-live the Gold Rush on this educational journey! This 2-day overnight adventure takes students on a "voyage around the Horn" sailing on a historic tall ship, lets them barter for supplies in "San Francisco" and pan for gold in a mountain stream. Program takes place aboard one of Ocean Institute's tallships and at the Lazy W Ranch.
