Coastal Explorer Laboratory
Grade 4
(grade 5 adaptable) Two hours, $650 for up to 45 participants ($675 for programs Jan. - June 2008)
Coastal Oceanography examines shoreline processes and the fragile ecosystem where the land meets the sea. Activities include the opportunity to study the anatomy/energy of waves and tides. Look closely at mineralogy of beach sand and determine how beaches are formed and eroded. Predict weather through coastal observations and using satellite maps. Explore adaptations of local coastal animals like the electro receptive senses of sharks, skates, and rays!
