Why I work at Ocean Institute: I grew up in the historic waterfront town of Bristol, Rhode Island where the Herreshoff boat building legacy was world-renown. My first nonprofit fundraising experiences were at the Herreshoff Marine Museum and later the America’s Cup Hall of Fame where I met the legends of sailing. These maritime history experiences naturally evolved into a passion for the ocean and conservation of our natural environment. My fundraising career has navigated through the preservation and perpetuation of American maritime history from magnificent sailing yachts to World War II historic naval ships and back to tall ships.  The ability to connect children to sailing and the sea, and to promote experiences that may lead to careers in science or ocean conservation is very meaningful to me.
