Family Science Night

Thursday, August 17: Snails, Slugs & Slime” with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County

Have you ever wondered why some insects and invertebrates make slime? Jann Vendetti will share the some of the amazing physical properties of snail slime. In addition, learn how scientists and citizens are working together to study land snails and slugs in Los Angeles Country through the SLIME initiative. This Family Science Night will have you thinking differently about our slimy friends that live in our own backyards!

We are getting close to sold out and need your help! If you are touch tank trained please sign up to volunteer for Family Science Night. For more information email Andrea asmith@oceaninstitute.org

Disney Summer of Service

Ocean Institute Youth volunteers have been invited to participate in Disney’s Summer of Service. This is an exciting opportunity for our volunteers who are 14-18 years old. You may apply for the Disney Summer of Service Grant. I strongly encourage your participation in this. Disney’s Summer of Service is a fairly new program that encourages youth to volunteer. If selected, you may be featured on the Disney Channel. To read more about it and apply for this grant please click here or copy and paste this link http://www.abcbeinspired.com/summer-of-service/ . You must apply by September 30.

You inspire me daily with your dedication to Ocean Education. Please share that with others through this opportunity.
