Tall Ships Festival Informational Meeting

Do you want to volunteer for our Tall Ships Festival? Please come to our informational meeting and have all of the latest information! You have two options for this informational meeting: 
Saturday,  August 27 9:00 am – 12:00 pm 
Wednesday,  August 31 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Can’t make the festival? We also need volunteers to prepare for Tall Ships Festival; getting craft materials together, setting up tables/booths, creating signs, decorating, etc. If you are interested to helping us prep for this awesome festival please sign up through VolunteerSpot by clicking here. Simply find the date of the prep you want and click sign up! If you cannot get the link to work, please email me and I will assign you to the day you choose. 

Tall Ships Festival

September 9, 10, 11

Volunteers will be needed for all 3 days. This is a great event to volunteer for; Not only is it incredibly helpful, but it is fun! A variety of communities will be involved in our Tall Ships Festival, let’s show them a great time and how awesome Ocean Institute is! Shifts for the festival will generally run like this:

Set Up Shifts on Friday only:
9:00 am – 1:00 pm
12:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Friday Sails & Ails (Must be at least 21 years old to volunteer for this position):
4:45 pm – 9:00 pm

Festival Shifts Saturday and Sunday:
8 am – 1:00 pm
12:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Clean Up Shift on Sunday only:
5:30 pm – 8:00 pm

General Information Meeting

There will be an important informational meeting for all Public Programs Docents, Pilgrim Docents, and Information Booth Volunteers, although all departments are welcome to attend

There are a lot of new and exciting experiments, tours, and activities coming up and we want to ensure that you all have the most up to date knowledge of our programs. You are an essential part of Public Programs and being a brand ambassador!

You have two dates to choose from: 
Wednesday, July 20th from 6 pm – 8 pm
Saturday, July 23rd from 9 am – 11 am

You may sign up for a meeting time by emailing Andrea asmith@ocean-institute.org with the date you would like; you only need to attend one of these meetings. You can also sign up using VolunteerSpot. 

Additionally, there will be a Pilgrim Docent Training at 11 am on Saturday. If you are interested in becoming a Pilgrim Docent please plan to attend. 

If you are over 50 hours and are in need of a shirt you will receive it at this meeting.

Relay for Life

I would like to invite you to join the Team Ocean Institute at the Dana Point Relay for Life! Our team will be comprised of Ocean Institute volunteers, staff, and friends.

What is Relay for Life?

“Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life event is a life-changing experience that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to Celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, Remember loved ones lost, and Fight Back against the disease.”

This is a 24 hour event which I will break up into shifts depending on how many teammates we have. You can walk as little or as much as you wish.
