Dr. Daniel Pauly is a professor at the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada, and the Director of the Sea Around Us Project, which is devoted to studying, documenting and promoting policies to mitigate the impact of fisheries on the world’s marine ecosystems. Dr. Pauly has been published in over 1000 scientific and general interest publications and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of software such FishBase and SeaLifeBase.
