Tall Ships Festival

We are expecting over 8,000 participants to join us from September 7th to the 9th for our BIGGEST event of the year: Tall Ships Festival! During the festival, a fleet of tall ships occupy the harbor and history comes alive as crews engage the public in cannon battles, pirate adventures, mermaid encounters, ship tours, food trucks, beer gardens, marine education, and much more.

We highly encourage anyone who plans to volunteer to attend ONE of our Tall Ships training dates, which will take place on:

Over the last few weeks, you’ve likely received a few emails from or even met the Ocean Institute’s new Volunteer Specialist, James. Moving forward, he will be your primary contact for all volunteer related communications, questions, and/or concerns. Don’t worry, you will still see Andrea around campus as our Weekend Manager!

A bit about our new Specialist:

James has been volunteering with Orange County Parks as a Park Ranger over the last three years. Please join us in welcoming our new Volunteer Specialist and say hello when you see him around campus!

“Everyone who elects to spend their time at the Ocean Institute shares a collective commitment to inspire others to learn, and I take great pride in belonging to an organization such as this. I’m thrilled to be here and am looking forward to working with you all!” – James
