Ocean Institute Announces Sept 7-9 Tall Ships Festival Presented by Toshiba

Dana Point, CA – Ocean Institute will host visitors and families at the 34th Annual Tall Ships Festival presented by Toshiba on September 7-9, 2018.  Tickets are on sale now for admissions and thrilling activities such as the Sails ‘n Ales Kickoff party, Parade of Sail, Cannon Battles, Mermaid encounters and more.  Visit oceaninstitute.org to purchase tickets.

We are excited to once again join with Toshiba to deliver an unforgettable experience celebrating California’s maritime history,” said Dan Pingaro, CEO of Ocean Institute.  “Among the exciting activities visitors will be able to experience fascinating tours of Ocean Institute’s own Tall Ships, Brig Pilgrim and Spirit of Dana Point, along with five visiting ships from San Diego and Los Angeles.”

Tall Ships Festival is an extremely popular event.  Visitor can also expect to enjoy the history of whaling, squid dissections, hands-on activities such as the Sailor’s Life, Cap’n Jacks Pirate School and gold panning, and the Sierra Nevada Beer Garden, live entertainment, food trucks and exhibits.

Details about Ocean Institute’s Tall Ships Festival can be found at oceaninstitute.org/tall-ships-festival.  Hours are Friday 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. for the Parade of Sails and 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. for Sails ‘n Ales and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the Mermaid Breakfast running from 9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Children 2 and under will receive free festival passes.   

Free parking is available at the designated shuttle lots located at Strand Vista Park and Dana Hills High School with free shuttle rides to the festival. Friday Night shuttles will run from Stands Vista Park only 3:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday Shuttles will run from Strand Vista Park and Dana Hills High School 8:30 a.m.- 8:30 p.m.
