World Oceans Weekend
Let's 'Shellebrate' Our Oceans!

Post

Hours: 10 am – 3 pm

World Oceans Day is celebrated on June 8 each year to learn about how best to protect our oceans and empower us to make a lasting difference for the future.

Come in and help us ’shellebrate’ our oceans with a whole weekend of activities. Learn about the state of plastics in our oceans and join in on a screening of the Smog of the Sea. Make the switch to reusable bags and decorate your own canvas bag to take home with you. Engage with our educational booths and learn how you can make a difference.

The Smog of the Sea, a documentary from filmmaker Ian Cheney, chronicles a research expedition through the Sargasso Sea and makes an artful call to action for rethinking single-use plastic.

Film screenings every hour starting at 10:30 am.

Saturday:

Come volunteer for a harbor wide beach clean up from 9 am to 11 am. All registered volunteers will be put in a raffle for free whale watching tickets with Capt. Daves Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari, an ocean institute membership, t-shirts and more!
