Private Tidepool Hike
Ages 6 and up

Science Field Trip 1.5 hours

Have you ever explored the tidepools and wondered what kind of marine life you had found? On your next tidepool adventure, bring an expert from the Ocean Institute with you. 

What you’ll see: Explore the Marine Conservation Area located directly behind the Ocean Institute with our expert guide. Species often found include hermit crabs, mussels, sea stars, and more. Your guide will guide you the best tidepooling area and identify species along the way. 

Duration: 1.5 hours 

When: Reservation only; availability contingent upon the tides. 

Fees: $200.00 for up to 10 guests; $12.00 each additional guest up to 15.

Hike Difficulty Rating: Moderate to Strenuous

Please be prepared for rocky, uneven, and slick terrain for the entire hike. 

Dress: Closed-toed, Closed-heeled sturdy shoes are required. We also recommend sunscreen, light layers, and water.

Reservations: Guest Services representatives are available 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Friday (except holidays) at 949-496-2274 or oi@oceaninstitute.org. 

Availability: Private Tidepool Hikes are subject to availability and low tide. Reservations are required and must be made at least two weeks in advance. Please be on time. Docents will be released from their responsibility 15 minutes after your scheduled arrival time. No-shows or late arrivals will not be refunded. 

Cancellation: We require at least 72 hours’ notice in order to offer a refund. Reservations and cancellations are processed by phone or in person only.
